Recovery - Christian Counseling - Topic

My Reply:

One of the problems of Recovery is "one way" communication. It is either "my way" or "no way".
It is God's ways (including biblical principles ) or no other way. - Trust and Obey for there is no other way.
Be sure the communication is "two ways" in:
1) the prayers (+ reading God's words & meditation )
2) parents to children & other relationships
3) the church staff and church members
4) the counselor/therapist and the counselee /client
4) even in "self-talk" - the left brain & the right brain can have a good and productive conversation.
----Perseverance vs. Stubbornness --------
1st half of life (or situation) :
Persevere (courage to "press on" no matter what )
2nd half of life (or situation) :
Stubbornness (persevere can turn to being stubborn )
---------------
Definition of "Recovery" -
> the degree / level of recovery (small steps? ) ;
> the expectation (set the bar high or lower )
> the timing (now or wait & see )
> mixing the order of steps to recovery (skipping the steps)
> it takes partnership with the "helper(s)" and the client.
How may I help you ? "What seems to bother you? " (instead of "Let me tell you ......? )
Final Thoughts:
> Recovery is a journey - not necessary just a destination.
> Recovery is not erasing, covering; rather it is "displacement" and "replacement"
> Recovery is the ability of self-managed* for a functional
lifestyle. (*if needed, additional help is available ).
