The Coronavirus pandemic has been in our world for almost two years and in that time, we've had to expand our vocabularies extensively. For this year's Media Literacy Week, we've put together a list of vaccine-related words to help you make informed decisions about the health news you might be reading, watching and listening to. It's important to know what certain words mean, so you can make sure the information you're getting is truthful. Vaccine or vaxxine (noun) A vaccine is a substance that is put into the blood and protects the body from a disease. Example: The Covid-19 vaccine was developed to protect humans from the novel coronavirus during the global pandemic. You might have seen vaccine spelled with an X, like this "vaxxine". This spelling is incorrect, however many people will understand the use of the word as slang. Vaccinated/unvaccinated (verb) To be vaccinated means to be given a vaccine to protect against a disease.
